What does your ideal home look like?
Situated between mountains or hills and a lake, within easy reach of town and yet rural enough to enjoy the countryside. It would be in the USA not the UK. Having a fresh white clapboard surround to my home with either Wedgewood blue or green doors and window shutters. The kitchen would be shaker style with plenty of cupboards to store utensils and appliances so that the work surfaces could be clean and uncluttered. A laundry room is essential (obviously)
The lounge/living room with a mixture of colonial style pieces with some solid but more modern furniture. Plenty of comfortable seating including a comfy couch. Plain light colour on the wall and plenty of artwork and sculpture as it would be spacious, light and airy enough to hold such works of art. The bathroom to the master bedroom is completely modern but with a Thai/Javanese dark wood cupboards and shelves. A bathtub and separate shower is a must. Lots of storage space again to achieve an organised and uncluttered look.
The bedroom is completely restful designed with light coloured walls and more artwork which would bring more of a sensual feel to the room without being over the top. Walk-in wardrobes with hanging space and shelves for a neat and tidy look.
The guest and spare bedroom is similarly set out .
The gardens would wrap around the house with plenty of shrubs including rosemary, lavender, lemon balm and other fragrant herbs for a sensory garden. There would be a pergola with honeysuckle and climbing roses intertwined within the cedarwood and a natural pond with a bridge. At the end of the rear garden a gate would lead to the edge of the lake with a boathouse and private landing stage . There would be plenty of gentle easy walks from the house. If I had such a home, I would be content
It’s just a dream and I know that belongings and possessions don’t make you happy, but the aesthetic appeal of a good sized home, uncluttered, in a beautiful spot, with light and air to enjoy a neat and tidy home and garden and display art in all it’s forms is my ideal, and of course the right person to share it with
