Tell us about a time when you felt out of place.
Back in 2017, unbeknownst to me, I had been nominated by several people to be a candidate for The Association of Reflexologists “unsung hero” award for my work as a charity founder bringing the NHS closer to working with holistic therapy for cancer and other long term seriously ill patients.
The first I knew about it was when I was told I had won the award and was invited to a hotel in London for the event and to be handed my award
When I arrived I was in the company of some very well known individuals, like Dr Peter Makereth (he founded the Therapy section of the Christie Cancer Hospital in Manchester).
I felt out of place with such amazing people and that’s when I found myself experiencing Imposter Syndrome for the very first time. It has happened several times since, but I felt like I didn’t deserve to be there because I had help in creating the charity and others just as worthy worked tirelessly alongside me.
My plaque and certificate are on display but I still think I didn’t deserve it
