BEING PROUD WITHOUT EGO

What are you most proud of in your life?

I think this has to come in two parts.

When my middle sister was diagnosed with metatised breast cancer and having already lost my eldest sister and her eldest daughter (my niece) to cancer, I felt helpless watching my only other sibling coming to the end of her life with pain and discomfort.  We were both Reflexologists and she began to get treated with holistic therapy by The Sarah Lee Trust.  There was nothing similar in the county where I lived and so as my sister’s and niece’s legacy, I formed The Harmony Therapy Trust.  Over the 14 years it has been going we have helped thousands of people access complementary therapies including reflexology, lymphatic drainage, massage, counselling and bereavement support just to mention a few.

Part two is about letting go.  I moved to a different county in the UK and realised it was time to let go of the reins and hand it over to a marvellous team of volunteers who now run it.  Detaching is a hard thing to do, but I still support them and will continue to attend major events for as long as I am able to do so physically.  So I’m June 2024, I officially retired and handed over knowing that my “baby” was in excellent hands and will continue to support NHS patients with long term illnesses such as cancer, Parkinson’s, MS, MND and other conditions.  The NHS has realised and supports the need for such charities as The Harmony Therapy Trust
