A Poem for Halloween 31/10/2021

IN THE CANDLE LIGHT

I lit two candles this very night for the souls now lost we mourn
And it matters not if recently or sometime since the loving veil was torn
You see grief is not something you get over, you never lose the pain
Maybe in time it softens as beautiful memories remain

There's no timeframe to fit in
As others think you own
Each loss it is so personal and belongs to you alone

For every one grieving right now, our loved ones are closer than you think on a love vibration.
With Love💓
Namaste

Being a vegetarian

What are your feelings about eating meat? Because of the way that animals were tested and hormones and antibiotics are being added, I stopped eating meat almost 5 years ago.oe.  It was a gradual thing and I found it tough and tasteless.  Then about 4 years ago I thought more about how I loved animals…

Admiral Sir George Cockburn

If you could meet a historical figure, who would it be and why? This is so easy.  My illustrious ancestor, Admiral Sir George Cockburn.  The reason?  Not just because he  isn’t the inside of the White House in 1812 but he escorted Napoleon to St. Helena I would love to have been a fly on…

FOUND AND LOST

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever found (and kept)? Is love cool? I don’t feel like it is.  I found out very late in life how real love feels, and no one was more surprised than me. Real love is wanting the happiness for the other person even if you have to stay on the…

WHERE HAS RESPECT GONE?

Recently I have witnessed how nasty people can get when hiding behind a keyboard. The result of America’s choice for President stirred a lot of comments from friends, cousins and also people who I do not know. I do find it hard to understand how we have got to the stage where someone’s political beliefs…

ENGLISH

What was your favorite subject in school? I was lucky enough to have at my first secondary school in Acton, a wonderful English Language and Literature teacher Miss Cohen.  From her I learnt to love our language and develop a thirst for reading both literature and poetry.  Words are powerful and paint a thousand pictures,…

TIME on MY HANDS

Do you need time? A strange prompt.  Time for what? Or is it about the need for more time? There’s nothing like retirement for making you realise that time is man made.  There are days when you feel constantly on the go rushing around and then others where the day seems to just drag.  The…

THE OCEAN AND I AM BUT A DROP WITHIN

I feel the sand between my toes damp, cold, gritty and sharp as I walk towards the foam lying upon the sand.  The waves mesmerising me, calling me forth to take one step and then another.  Cold and afraid I walk towards my destiny.  I am alone knowing that I am drawn to them just…

LIVING IN THE MOMENT

What will your life be like in three years? In 3 years I will be 78.  I have no expectations of what my life will be like because whenever possible I will always try to live in the moment.  However inevitably there will be more natural signs of age and I will of course notice…

BIG L LOVE

What’s something you believe everyone should know. That’s the only thing.  Love. It’s not just the romantic kind, it’s the unconditional Love we need in our lives
